The sentiment is sweet
The feeling is there
When those saving your life
are trying to show that they care
Statements like
"It's a miracle that you are alive"
But through streams of tears
a patient says
"that day I died"
The physical body may still be intact
The wounds sewn up
The scars all patched
But life will never be the same
The unseen wounds
Begin to play their own game
Grateful to walk, to run, to laugh
But the person they knew
Is never coming back

back to today
