I lead a vessel
A vessel of souls
Whose lives were cut short
And seek passage home
Their bodies remain grounded
But their spirits still roam
As I stand steady at the helm
aware of the sudden unknown
I set a course for everlasting rest
And promise that they are not alone
A promise assuring they will be known
Because in the quilt of life
Their story has been forever sewn
